Cuffin' 101..
I usually write my blogs days ahead of time. In honor of the special time of the season is this special post.
This post is especially for my married white friends who have no idea what I'm talking about most of the time.
It's October and officially cuffin season. Oh, you don't know what cuffin season is? Well let me enlighten you.
Cuffin season refers to the colder months of the year when its more convenient to have a steady "adult relationship" instead of being single. Cuffin someone is like having a relationship lite. It's the relationship purgatory that happens around this time of the year. I mean think about it; who wants to be out when it's cold trying to talk to someone in the parking lot. No walks or long conversations outside in the sun--some are at a disadvantage. Most people want to hibernate (I know I do) in the winter, and the goal is to find someone whom you trust enough to spend the season.
It's tradition.
It's logical.
It's cost efficient. Home cooked meals at home instead of drinks out, movie night marathons and popcorn on the couch instead of dressing up and stepping out.
And most importantly, it eliminates the guess work for 4 to 6 months beginning around October and ending just after Valentine's Day which is the last real day of this seasonal relationship.
Side Note: The people who end the relationship before Valentine's Day don't follow the rules. You got into this knowing it was going to end in February, don't take away the finale. Go out with a bang!
It's important to have tolerance and patience, but even if you lack both, cuffin can still be for you.
So let me make this personal.
I have followed the cuffin tradition for about 50% of the time. I prefer to have a mate but the competition can be fierce. You have to get your bid in early.
Since I started the blog, I try to be more mindful in my dating. It serves two purposes now--entertainment and ENTERTAINMENT! I thought this would be a good year to sit the bench and take one for the team. I could take a year off, write, and explore some possibilities. As things typically do, they changed. I found a cute one.
Yes, my friends #77. Let's see where it goes.
